Pinterest will be my demise

Dear Friends,

You may be wondering why I am not following you on Pinterest. It is only in part due to the fact that you only pin dream wedding ideas, babies in cute hats, home decorating projects, and stilettos.

The real problem is the pictures of food you continually post that make me want to slit my wrists. You see, you somehow manage to slip them into every one of your boards. No, your "food I want to make" board isn't enough for you, so you insist on dropping them like little bombs onto your other boards entitled "things I like" and "cute ideas." Reeeeal sneaky, Friend. I think it would be fine if more of my artsy, unmarried, childless friends pinned things, but let's face it, they're not the ones pinning things- it's the homemakers who want to make elaborate cakes for their kid's birthday and ruin my life in the process.

Being that, unlike on Facebook, I can't hide you, without your knowledge, to avoid being subjected to your nesting instincts, I am forced to unfollow you completely.

I mean, wouldja just LOOK at this stuff?!

And the pies, oh don't get me started on the pies...

There's only so much I can take!

So, if you value your own life, or mine, do yourself a favor and don't ask me why I'm not following you on Pinterest.

Indignantly,
Bren

P.S. STOP posting pictures of emaciated woman with captions like "something to aspire to" and "motivation," and just go make one of those recipes and stuff it in your face. Thanks.

Afoot & light-hearted I take to the open road...

So I decided to skip Thanksgiving this year and escape my life for a spell.

Why?
-My traveling has been practically nonexistent since I got sick
-I have a week off work
-I 'm able to go 7-10 days in between doctor's visits, right now
-Southwest was having $30 flights
-I don't have a place to stay in The Bay anyway & everyone has family visiting
-If I have to sit through a holiday where everyone is gorging on mashed potatoes, alcohol and PIE I WILL go Firestarter for sure

Last year, my roommate, a friend and I went camping in Big Sur. We cooked turkey and pie beforehand and made the rest on the fire. It was the greatest Thanksgiving of all time.

This year I decided to up my game and go a bit further away...

Happy Thanksgiving from Paradise, Montana!

And yes, I'm being extra careful about my nose...

"Afoot and light-hearted, I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me, leading wherever I choose."

Spaghetti squash
Green pepper
Red pepper
Red onion
4 large tomatoes
Vegetable broth
Glass dish
Large skillet/pan
2 avocados
Lemon juice
Garlic

From top left, across:
-Cook & prepare spaghetti squash
-Chop a green pepper, a red pepper and a red onion
-Bake peppers and onion with chicken breasts doused in vegetable broth for 30 minutes on 350
-Chop tomatoes and saute in large pan
-Remove chicken from other dish, chop and add to tomatoes, cook for a few minutes while stirring
-Yes, we used that many knives...
-Combine peppers, onion and a few cloves of chopped garlic to pan then dole out ontop of squash
-Leftovers were used the following night for some lettuce wraps at a party. Zucchini was steamed, chopped and added. Guacamole was made with 2 mashed avocados, some chopped garlic and a squirt of lemon juice
-I needed another pic to round out the grid, so here's me in my party dress

My Life is HARD

Tonight at my Women's Group someone brought homemade spice cake. Last week someone brought homemade peach cobbler (that's 2nd in ranking to pie!). Both times they were warm, aromatic and calling my name...before I got sick the only thing anyone ever brought were cuties and stale, gross cookies from the dollar store. It's a good thing I took a nap today and my stomach was full of some choice lettuce, 'else I would've cut someone.
