Dinner's On Me
I have grilled onions behind my ear, olive oil and cinnamon oil inside, and garlic on top. I'm a walking home remedy recipe.

Anti Antibiotics
Yup, I'm anti antibiotics. I was over-prescribed them as a kid and I was wrongly prescribed them as a an adult. They were a HUGE factor in my contracting Aspergillosis.
Antibiotic resistance has been called one of the world’s most pressing public health problems, repeatedly, by numerous health outlets.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has a website dedicated entirely to educating people on the facts of antibiotic use and abuse. I highly recommend you educate yourself so you don't end up doing harm to your body, or to your children.
My three month old niece was prescribed a 10 day dose for a double ear infection and I was appalled. First of all, antibiotics do nothing for ear infections. Secondly, her immune system is still forming itself and can be altered by antibiotics. Thirdly, antibiotics will kill off her good intestional flora. Furthermore, she already has some tummy issues, so she needs that flora! Fourth, 10 days is a huge dose! The only thing she needs is pain relievers if her pain gets to be unmanagable, and a few days to allow her body to heal itself.
I've talked a lot about my chronic ear infections on this blog. I've had them since I was a kid. When my niece was born everyone commented that she has my rosebud-looking ears (they look like rose petals because there is no curl on the edges), it seems she really did inherit my ears, poor thing. I have been given antibiotics to treat these infections my entire life, and guess what? They never did jack shit for my ears! The sure did screw up a whole mess of other stuff, though! If I can spare my niece, what I've learned from my experiences will be worth it.
This is what I have found to actually help. It is inexpensive, effective, and you don't need a prescription. It is the ONLY thing that had worked for me. I've mentioned it before, but here's a refresher:
Boil olive oil with garlic cloves in it. Allow it to cool to a warm temperature. Strain out the cloves. Lie on your side and pour the warm oil into your ear canal. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Repeat with the other ear. For children dip cotton balls into the oil and place them in the child's ear. Try to drip some down into the canal. Sit for however long your child allows. 5-10 minutes should work. You can also grill onions and put them behind the ear. Garlic and onion are natural germ killers and pain relievers. Do this 2 or 3 times a day. It works! And a plus, your ears will sparkle and shine!

Lifesavers
Nose drops to clear throat & ear drops to reduce fluid
Turns out I do have an ear infection and the drainage is causing inflammation in my throat. I'm going to refrain from bitching about it, though...

How am I?
People ask, but I'm sure they don't really want to know.
They're just being polite and I put on a damn good show.
"Pretty good."
"I'm fine."
"Doing better."
Lies...
To put it simply: I have black mold (the deadly kind) growing inside my body. It's in my blood and thus everywhere. I'm starting to think there's more of It, now, than what's left of me. It causes my brain to swell causing blurred vision, headaches and fatigue. It causes my heart and kidneys to work extra hard and inefficiently resulting in toxins building up in my blood so I have to have my blood filtered often. It lowers my immune system making it difficult for my body to fight illness and leads to chronic respiratory, ear, vaginal yeast and skin infections. It causes my joints, bones and muscles to be stiff and achy which makes sitting, standing, lying down, walking, running and basically just being alive painful. It causes mucus and fungus to build up in my lungs making my breaths shallow and arduous. It makes my skin sensitive to touch, irritation, sun, wind, cold, heat and prone to bruising. Showers are difficult because if the water is too cold my muscles throb and my bones scream, but if it's too hot my skin prickles and peels. It's causing my acne to flair up. It's causing my hair to thin and fall out in handfuls. I have constant diarrhea and I throw up frequently (most often at about 2am). I have to take high doses of anti-fungals that leave me exhausted, disoriented and crazy. I'm basically living on raw vegetables, medications, vitamins and filtered water. I'm anemic. I have nosebleeds and rectal bleeding. I'm always starving and I've lost 25lbs, yet I'm flabby because I'm losing muscle tone. I'm tired all the time but I have difficulty sleeping or staying asleep. I'm constantly cold, yet sweaty. I get tired very easily and winded after walking short distances. I'm dead broke, having to work less hours than I'd like and had to accept a handout from my parents(an extremely difficult and humiliating thing for me). I cry at the drop of a hat and the hat drops often. I'm either short fused or too sick and tired to care about things that should bother me. I'm sick as hell, but I'll be fine.
Actually, I feel more alive than I ever have in my life.
"Thanks for asking."

I'm sorry, I can't hear you, I've got olive oil in my ear.
Apparently staying out until 3am(when you've been going to bed between 7 & 9), in chilly, damp, sea air on Friday, and then going to a rock show on Sunday, when you have a serious illness, isn't what the doctor means by "taking it easy." Who knew?! I'm sure this comes as a shock to most, but I'm kinda a stubborn bastard, who has to learn things the hard way(you're dying of shock, aren't you?).
Worry not, I paid for my bullheadedness, when I was struck down Monday night with a cough from the depths of Hell. Thinking that was penance enough, was silly on my part, however. At my check-up on Tuesday I was alerted to the fact that I had, not only a respiratory infection, but a double-ear infection, as well(Yay, I win!).
The rattle in my chest is old news, frankly. I haven't been able to breathe deeply for months anyway, and the cough is nothing compared to my friend that once had one for 7 months straight, so I'm not gonna bitch about any of that...but, I'm a sniveling baby when it comes to ear infections, no joke(there, you know my kryponite).
The best part is that I'm not allowed any medication because it all has antibiotics, sugar or alcohol in it.
My friend suggested boiling olive oil with garlic, letting it cool, straining the garlic and then putting the oil in my ears...so I've been lying around the past few days with my head dunked in oil, watching the entire first season of One Tree Hill, and I must say: I really wish I had some Olive Garden breadsticks.
